Tender Description
Council is seeking Tenders from suitably qualified and capable contractors for the renewal works of two bridges in Yallambie Park, 30A Longs Road, Lower Plenty and one bridge in Elder Street River Reserve in Montmorency Park.
Funds has been allocated in this financial year to design and carryout bridge renewal works on bridge number 23, 53 and 54.
Bridge 23 -Elder Street River Reserve /Montmorency Park.
This bridge is 17 m long footbridge. The kerb to kerb width is 1.3m. Stringer is a concrete T beam. Abutments are made of concrete and rock boulders.
The work involves:
- Clearing around the abutments and exposing the abutment to visualise the status of the abutment
- Wire brush cleaning of the steel part of the deck and applying anticorrosive paint and two coats of enamel paint.
- Grouted (Type 2) Rock beaching of both abutments as per VicRoads specification number 713
Bridge 53 and 54 - Yallambie Park/30A Longs Road, lower Plenty
Bridge number 53 is 18.4m long footbridge. The deck length is 16m and the width is 3.5 m. This is a timber bridge where most of the timber on the deck is deteriorated. Bridge number 54 is 28m long foot bridge with a timber deck of 21m in length and 3.5m in width. Most of the timber deck in this bridge also deteriorated and needs replacement.
Council expects to replace the timber decks of these two bridges like for like. The work involves in both bridges are:
- Remove existing timber deck and the hand rails and expose the existing stringers and cross girders.
- Wire brush all existing steel parts and apply one coat of anticorrosive paint and two coats of enamel paint
- Replace all timber parts with new timber like for like
