The Art Gallery of NSW is a significant cultural organisation and a major tourism destination for local, interstate and international visitors. The Gallery is open to the public 7 days a week. The Gallery is only closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday. The visitation level at the Gallery averages around 1.3 million visitors per year.
The Art Gallery of New South Wales will be expanding with a new site (Sydney Modern Project) due for completion in 2022. As a result of this expansion an opportunity has arisen to supply specific technical commercial grade lighting for the new SMP Gallery spaces.

This project is designed to cover the supply only of specialist gallery lighting that meets the minimum light technical requirements. The proposed light fitting types shall include:
- Track mounted spot lights with interchangeable lenses. Wall washers to achieve up to 800 LUX with high uniformity.
- Contour framing of artwork using shutters and/or lenses.
- The light fittings shall have compatible track adaptors that work with the Erco 240V lighting tracks being installed in the galleries in the SMP.
- Warranty period: minimum 5 years or 50,000 hours, whichever comes first.
- All of the luminaires shall have been tested in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and comply with Australia regulatory requirements for installation in Australia.
- Orders for suitable lighting will be placed within quarter 1 of 2022.
