Tender Description
Colac Otway Shire is located in the south west of Victoria, about 160km from Melbourne. Colac Otway Shire Council was successful in receiving funding under the State Governments 2021 Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program which is to be utilised to upgrade oval sports lighting at four of the Shires recreation reserves. These reserves include:
- Irrewillipe Recreation Reserve
- Alvie Recreation Reserve
- Warrowie Recreation Reserve
- Gellibrand Recreation Reserve
Oval lighting upgrades to amateur level club competition and match practice standard (average horizontal illuminance 100 lux) is proposed for all sites. Lighting to this level would meet Australian Standards for training purposes and will improve ground management. Inadequate lighting has led to uneven wearing of the ground. Players are unable to utilise the whole surface, which means higher wear and tear under lit areas. Consistent lighting across the playing surface will improve management options and allow areas to be rested if needed.
Council has had some preliminary design work undertaken for each site by Musco Lighting Australia and has also appointed an electrical engineer to assess current capacity and expected future power demands at each site.
Council is now seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from highly experienced and skilled companies to undertake detailed design and construction of Sportsground Lighting to min average 100 lux at the following locations, whilst allow for the provision of future lighting upgrades to 150 lux at each of the sites.
