Virtualisation / Cloud Engineer and/or Developer (4 x positions)

⁠⁠⁠The requirement is to supply one or more virtualisation/cloud engineers from multiple disciplines and technologies including storage, backup, networking, firewall, virtualisation, file systems, and database administration. Engineers will be responsible for administrating research network systems with a strong focus on cyber security.

Location
Delivery of IT engineering services must be physically located on site at either DST Group, Edinburgh, SA or DST Group Fishermans Bend, Vic. We will consider suitable candidates at either location.

Term: Commencing: 15th August 2021 (or ASAP thereafter)
Term: Initial, 10 months (ending 30 July 2022)
Extensions: 2 x 1 year extension options (ending 30 July 2024)

Skills and Experience of Nominated Staff
Required technical skills and experience includes minimum of 3 years administering, managing and/or supporting in the following disciplines:

Virtualisation / Cloud Engineer and/or Developer (4 x positions)
• Experience and exposure to Vmware Product Suite including vCloud and ESXi
• Vmware NSX
• Experience in virtual machine blueprints and automated provisioning
• High level skills and experience in Linux scripting in at least one of: bash, perl, python.
• Strong skills in general Linux system administration of CentOS/RedHat.
• Strong skills in general Microsoft Windows system administration.
• Experience developing Ansible playbooks or other software defined infrastructure products.
• Linux Certification (of any kind)
• Microsoft Windows Certification (of any kind)
• Sound knowledge of the ISM and DSM

Service personal must have:
• Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work as a member of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients at multiple organisational levels.
• Internal and external customer relationship management skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Effective listening and problem-solving skills
• Effective meeting facilitation skills

• Proficient in troubleshooting, investigation and reverse engineering of complex and undocumented systems.

Desirable
• Previous experience within the Defence environment.
• Familiarity with Defence IT security concepts.

Note: Responses do not necessarily have to include a nominated personnel for ALL 4 roles. That is, we will accept responses for a single (or more) engineers.

Security Clearances for Nominated Personnel
• All engaged Service Personnel providing the services in all categories at Edinburgh and Fishermans Bend must have a minimum Negative Vetting level 1, and there is a strong preference for NV 2.
