Aotearoa New Zealand Overseas Trained Physicians (OTP) Assessment Committee is seeking expressions of interest for a Paediatric Lead.
Description
The Aotearoa New Zealand OTP Assessment Committee plays a key role in the assessment of OTPs by providing advice to the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) on the OTPs equivalency to a New Zealand trained paediatrician. Members of the Subcommittee can have a real impact on health service delivery and quality of care in the New Zealand health system.
Key responsibilities
- Interview OTPs to understand their overseas qualifications, training and
- Provide preliminary and interview advice to the MCNZ.
- Determine supervision/training requirements for OTPs in accordance with the guidelines and policies set by the MCNZ and RACP.
- Provide expertise about OTP assessment to the MCNZ, College staff and other College Committees.
- Monitor OTP progress through to Fellowship.
- Advise on key initiatives, projects and educational developments, as requested by the OTP Unit or Professional Practice directorate.
The Committee meets monthly, up to 12 times per year. Most of the meetings are videoconferences with 1 face-to-face meeting in Wellington.
The Fellow will be appointed for an initial 2-year term, with the option to renew for a further 2 terms.
