Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Steam is currently used on site for heating hot water production, domestic hot water production and chilled water production through the use of absorption chillers located in HSB. Steam (with condensate) is reticulated around the site through a ring main of underground tunnels known as the North and South tunnels. The pipework is approximately 40 years old.

According to CIBSE Guide M – Maintenance and Engineering identifies the economic life of heavy grade steel pipework systems to be in the order of 35 years. This does not necessarily mean these will fail immediately, but the failure rate is expected increase year on year. Therefore, it is critical to replace parts of the system to ensure this essential services is remains operational.

The required Steam condensate upgrade works as detailed on Drawing AH-Tunnel-02 Rev T1 includes:

• Remove 2 x condensate lines in North tunnel and replace with Stainless Steel

• Remove 1 x condensate lines in North tunnel and replace with Stainless Steel

• Install new / replace existing isolation valves as shown

Contractors interested in submitting tender price for the work is required to have extensive knowledge and experience with working within an operational Tertiary Health Facility. The contractor is also required to have had experience in working with steam. This includes specialised building services sub-contractors.

A site walkthrough has been organised for Tuesday 17 August 2021 at 9.30am.

Interested tenderers also need to be registered with Austin Health iPro Certification in addition to DTF Construction Supplier Registration List.
