The Western Australian (WA) Police Force are seeking by way of an Expression of Interest (EOI), current market information in relation to technology required to facilitate Agency-wide centralised Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) processing, management and alerting.
ANPR is a key policing capability for WA police and supports the following Agency strategic pillars:
- Enforce the law
- Prevent crime
- Manage and coordinate emergencies
ANPR is utilised by WA Police Force to monitor vehicle traffic within Western Australia. A wide network of cameras provide number plate detections which are then referenced against a list of known or suspected people of interest (POI) or vehicles of interest (VOI).
These detections generate pre-defined automated alerts to various mobile, vehicle or desktop devices across Western Australia. The imagery and other data contained in these detections are maintained in electronic form for intelligence gathering and other analysis.
There are several vendor-supplied ANPR systems currently in use by WA Police Force, however it is the preference of the WA Police Force to consolidate these systems into a single platform for consistency and efficiency.
A singular vendor-supplied system for the Agency will maximise ANPR capability to support law enforcement operational activity in response to solving crime, enforcing road safety and locating persons at risk.
The purpose of the EOI will be to assist in the collection of up to date market information to enable the WA Police Force to inform its procurement plan and sourcing strategy.
