Tender Description
The Alpine Shire requests tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors for road construction works on the Buckland Valley Road, Buckland. The road is currently unsealed and has little to no crushed rock pavement on sections of the existing formation. The works include road base construction, sealing and drainage works.
A separate project, managed and due for delivery by DELWP prior to the proposed commencement of these works (May 2021) is to sheet the entire length proposed here with a 40mm(-) material. As such, it is anticipated that the road will be well shaped and graded prior to this project. There are items within the schedule which describe re-shaping table drains and reshaping the road. Please allow for one day total to undertake this work, and if more time is required it will be performed on day (or hour) rates.
The works in this contract include:
• Preparation of the (soon to be constructed) road base as described (minor),
• Lay and compact an additional layer of 20mm fine crushed rock on the existing base (note the 1% cement treatment)
• Apply a bituminous seal (10mm primer seal) over the upgraded pavement.
There are minor associated drainage works as described in the schedule. The work is to be undertaken from the end of the existing seal past the new Buckland Bridge to the start of the next sealed section of the road near Cemetery Road (approx. 3.3km), to the lengths and widths provided in the schedule.
