Tender Description
Artists, dancers, musicians and creatives who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander - we want you for NAIDOC 2021!
In preparation for NAIDOC Week 2021 which runs from Sunday 4 July to Sunday 11 July 2021 under the theme "Heal Country!", Isaac Regional Council is sending out a call for Expressions of Interest from artists, dancers, musicians and other creatives who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. We're looking to the community to assist us in building this year's NAIDOC Week offering and want your help to plan, organise and deliver a schedule of events in July. Council wishes to host a series of arts and cultural events and activities designed to engage, educate and entertain the people of the Isaac region while celebrating the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the oldest continuing culture on the planet
Council is calling upon creatives to:
- provide artworks for exhibition in the Coalface Art Gallery and Dysart Artspace and other Council facilities with hanging space such as Clermont Library and the foyers of the Moranbah Community Centre and Dysart Civic Centre;
- perform at local NAIDOC events whether this takes the form of dance, singing, playing an instrument, telling yarns, reciting poetry or more;
- run art/creative/cultural skills workshops at Council owned facilities such as its libraries and community halls;
- visit Isaac's network of small schools (Valkyrie, Clarke Creek, St Lawrence, Carmila, Kilcummin, Coppabella, Nebo and Glenden) and run art/creative/cultural skills workshops with the students. As school holidays fall during NAIDOC Week 2021, the school visits may take place during the school term in the latter half of July (with the dates to be confirmed with the schools).
Preference will be given to artists with a connection to Country within the Isaac region.
Please register your interest and proposal details below.
