The Adult Medicine Division Education Committee (AMDEC) is seeking expressions of interest from Basic Trainees for the position of Basic Trainee Representative proxy.
Description
The Committee oversees Basic and Advanced Training for Adult Medicine trainees. It's key responsibilities are to:
- implement College education policy as approved by the College Education Committee (CEC)
- implement the College’s strategic direction in relation to education within the Adult Medicine Division (AMD)
- ensure standardisation in Basic and Advanced Training delivery in Adult Medicine
- ensure assessment and accreditation is conducted fairly, efficiently and in a transparent manner
- advise the CEC on AMD education policy and program development
- work collaboratively with the specialty societies and other stakeholders on education development and delivery
- monitor the Basic and Advanced Training program requirements and curricula
- undertake other functions as required by the AMD Council or Board approved policy or by-law. This may include acting as a Review Committee pursuant to the Reconsideration, Review and Appeal By-Law or reviewing subordinate committee decisions relating to individual trainee or Fellow progress
Roles and responsibilities of the Basic Trainee Representative proxy include (but are not limited to):
- attending Committee meetings or participating in out-of-session decision activity when the Basic Trainee Representative is unavailable
- providing trainee perspective to the issues of concern
- representing trainees’ interests
- advocating on behalf of trainees
The Committee holds 4 face-to-face meetings, and up to 6 teleconferences a year.
The term of office is for two years, with the option to serve up to a maximum of six years.
