The Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities (TFHC) is committed to partnering with organisations to provide targeted, time limited, culturally safe, intensive support for families to help keep children safe, thriving and connected to their family and community. Placed based services are at the heart of what is best for service delivery in the Northern Territory, with local communities deciding what shape the services for their families should take. Family support strengthens and nurtures families, building on family members’ existing strengths and skills. It encourages positive relationships within families to value, nurture and protect children, providing them with the best environments to learn and grow.
Family Support Services will work closely with TFHC to increase safety for children and young people in their home through:
- developing with parents, families and their networks, safety plans;
- identifying the individual support needs of family members;
- providing flexible, place based support or facilitating engagement with relevant services;
- working with families across a set period of time; and
- ensuring any ongoing needs for support are in place through referral.
This grant round is for the Barkly region.
