Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to reduce road fatalities and serious injuries through the appropriate management of speed.
Deliverables:
Stream 2 will produce the following deliverables:
Research Report – Speed Information Management
- Collated Evidence of successful approaches
- Jurisdictional guidance when considering speed management options at locations and corridors
Detailed practice guidelines for the best practice methods for managing speed limit information, applicable across the Austroads jurisdictions to remove barriers to jurisdictions establishing speed limit data bases and support consistency across jurisdictions
- Best practice review of international and domestic jurisdictions
- Consider application in Australian & NZ Jurisdictional contexts
- Strengths and weaknesses of existing and possible approaches
- Recommendations for best method/s of establishing speed limit information
- Recommendations for best methods of maintaining speed limit information
- Guidance documentation regarding implementation and management of the recommended method/s with consideration of the various existing systems of road authority responsibilities, delegations across jurisdictions, cost effective data management for collection, access and maintenance, regulatory and operational requirements.
Update to the Guide to Road Safety
- Guideline statements or referencing from or to the research report, internal report and guidelines above.
Implementation Plan.
The following are out of scope:
- Recommendations to change systems of road authority responsibilities and delegations.
- Stream 1 Activities.
- Development of a solution product or service.
Also included as part of this tender are the following documents:
- Instructions for Authors of Austroads Publications which sets out the writing and formatting standards for research, technical and internal reports.
