The Great Barrier Reef Foundation (GBRF) is seeking to establish two regionally focussed water quality improvement programs under the Reef Trust Partnership, one for the Mulgrave-Russell catchment (value $6.2m) and one in the Tully-Johnstone catchment (value $11.6m). The current call for expressions of interest (EOI) is seeking project ideas from potential delivery providers which will implement cost-effective solutions to substantially reduce the amount of dissolved inorganic nitrogen leaving these catchments.
A separate request for proposal has been issued for professional services related to program management and partnership coordination for these regional programs. The request for proposals is available at https://tenders.net/dtp/barrierreef/ and provides more detail on the roles and governance arrangements for the programs.
The information provided in response to this EOI will allow the GBRF to assess the interest, availability and capability of applicants to implement projects that achieve an enduring reduction in the long-term end-of-catchment pollutant loads from priority catchments in both regions. The EOIs will be used to inform the development of a detailed plan for each regional program. Suitable EOI applicants may be invited to submit detailed project proposals as part of a subsequent funding process.
