Tender Description

The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) has identified a need for the provision of support for infants, children and adolescents with long term medical complexity in the community setting.

The proposed services are specifically for children, often with dependence on medical technology, who no longer require tertiary-level care at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH), but require planned transition to the community. Based on an individual family’s circumstances, in-home or residential  care may be required as follows:

  • In-Home Care includes support from trained and competent support workers in the family home. This type of care usually involves a support worker to provide awake overnight supervision and may also include daytime care either in or out of the home. The hours of care required will be assessed on a case by case basis and will vary according to the children’s need.
  • Residential Care will be required for respite and/or medium-to-long-term placement options in a place designed for children to live and have care provided on-site (24-hours a day, 7-days a week), and provides training for families and carers to support the transition home.

The service provisions are required to comply with Quality Standards and Operational Requirements, which will be detailed in the Request document.

The choice of Contractor(s) will be based on specifications for the individual child at the point of care. The level of care provision required will be based on an assessment of the family’s individual needs.
