Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠The City of Melbourne is undertaking the redevelopment/renewal of the existing Western Oval Sports Pavilion, 776 Park Street, Parkville, sited within Royal Park. The specific aim of the project is to provide new gender equal change facilities for users of the pavilion. The existing pavilion is no longer fit for purpose in terms of physical condition, facility design for gender equality and the way that contemporary best practise community recreation and other community functions are designed and delivered.

It is proposed to construct a new single storey pavilion that will include a Social Room/Multi-Purpose Room, a kitchen and servery area, spectator toilets/amenities, four gender equal Change Rooms & associated toilets/showers, umpire/referee change facilities and store rooms. The scope of works will include an external works and a landscape works package. Following completion of this new pavilion, the existing pavilion will be demolished and the area returned to parkland. The enclosed area of the new pavilion is in the order of 375m2.

The City of Melbourne is seeking suitably qualified Building Contractors capable of producing well designed and high quality built outcomes to register their interest in participating in a select tender process to build this exciting new facility.

The key elements of the works comprise:

  •  Remove existing vegetation surrounding the existing pavilion. Construct a new pavilion with ESD attributes to reflect the heritage significance of the park.
  •  Develop new landscaping to area around new pavilion as per Heritage Victoria guidelines.
  •  Protection of designated trees as per arborist report and tree impact statement.
  •  Demolish of old pavilion and sub structure.
