Expression of Interest for Long Term Solar Partner WS2310991691
Tender ID: 415786
Tender Details
Tender Description
Sydney Water provides drinking water, recycled water, wastewater services and some stormwater services to more than four million people in Sydney, Illawarra and the Blue Mountains. The area of operations, totalling almost 13,000 square kilometres, extends from the Hawkesbury River in the north to Gerroa in the south, and from the Pacific Ocean westward to Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains.
We are in the top 100 energy consumers in NSW and are looking to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. To help us on our way, we have a board approved energy masterplan that among other things seeks to install a minimum of 13.5 MW of solar by 2030.
To help us on this journey, Sydney Water is seeking a long-term solar partner to help us identify, assess, design and install solar PV and associated technologies on our sites.
Rather than specify how the solar benefit will be delivered, we want proponents to suggest the delivery model. This could be a traditional design and install model, or it could be renting our roof space and selling us electricity that’s generated by solar arrays. Proponents are also encouraged to propose multiple business models.
We have sites that consume a lot of energy behind the meter such as treatment facilities, but other sites that have a lot of space but cannot use all the power. To maximise the value of installations, we are open to a range of alternative contracting arrangements. This could include buying power directly and renting space (eg, roof space), etc.
We also want proponents to explore innovative options such as floating solar, solar as car park roofs, etc, even if they are currently uneconomic. We want the market experts to share their experience and offer us an affordable and sustainable way to meet our objectives.
