⁠⁠⁠To facilitate ultimate waste water flows from Coorong Quays residential development, a number of Alexandrina Council wastewater network components require expansion, or construction
Alexandrina Council currently owns and operates a Goolwa WWTP. B-Class wastewater is then pumped, via a transfer main, to a holding lagoon located on Boettcher Road Goolwa. Approx. 220ML per annum of wastewater is then utilised by Brooks Turf, under a commercial licence agreement, to irrigate turf for commercial retail sale. The turf is irrigated utilising centre-pivot irrigation whereby turf is irrigated in a circular motion.

In accordance with the Coorong Quays Infrastructure Agreement, upgrades to this irrigation practice are identified; upgrading / replacing the centre-pivot technology with lateral irrigation technology. Use of this technology provides ability to increase yield of turf produced, with the turf being grown & harvested from a more traditional square allotment; hence, increase in usable area. The increases in waste water flows from Hindmarsh Island are intended to match, in some capacity, the outflows of wastewater provided to the turf operations. A water-balance model has indicated a further 100ML per annum of water will ultimately be available for re-use.

The new Lateral Machine Upgrade scope shall be;

• Supply, installation and commissioning of new Lateral Irrigation infrastructure
• Reconfiguring of existing electrical (if req’d) & mechanical control systems
• Removal of any redundant equipment from site
• Relocation of superseded pivot equipment to a suitable location on site, as instructed
• Provision of any ancillary plumbing work and electrical work (if req’d)
• Reinstatement of surfaces affected by the new service installation works
• Provision of ‘as constructed’ survey and drawings

The Council is supportive of tenders considering and utilising the services of local suppliers, providers and trades for all aspects of the project. Tenders shall document those nominated specialists, suppliers and trades within their package and fee proposal.
