Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠The Advanced Training Committee in Medical Oncology seeks interested medical oncology Fellows to join as the Lead in Research.

The Committee, which oversees the Advanced Training in Medical Oncology Program, is responsible for:

  • monitoring and assessing individual trainee progress
  • confirming the completion of training requirements to progress to Fellowship
  • monitoring training of, and provide support to, medical oncology supervisors
  • accrediting Advanced Training sites or programs
  • assessing recognition of prior learning
  • monitoring and reviewing training program requirements, assessment and curricula – in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and other stakeholders – and recommend changes to the College Education Committee through the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee
  • advising on assessment and resource content
  • advising on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested
  • providing advice on specialty specific CPD and other educational resources for members, as appropriate
  • modifying training requirements for individual trainees, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures
  • assessing and providing advice on specialist recognition in medical oncology for Fellows in the Paediatrics & Child Health Division or Adult Medicine Division who haven't completed the Advanced Training Program.

There is a single Lead in Research position open to interested Fellows, with the position also comprising of other Committee responsibilities as required.

Experience that will be considered favourably:

  • accreditation experience
  • current Advanced Trainee supervisors
  • applicants who have attended at least 1 SPDP workshop

The Committee meets 4 times a year: 2 x teleconferences and 2 x face-to-face meetings in Sydney, NSW. The term of office is for 2 years, with the option to serve up to a maximum of 6 years.
