Tender Description

This procurement for the design, construction and testing of three Krill Observational Moorings for Benthic Investigation (KOMBI). The moorings are intended for future deployment to the sea floor in the Antarctic by the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD). The mooring will collect data to determine the importance of this habitat for Antarctic krill over a full year period at depths between 300 and 1500 metres.

The design is to include optimisation of decent and accent speeds and procedures for deployment and recovery from a vessel, including the possibility of recovery being made under sea ice utilising the AAD’s Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) deployed through the moon pool of the AAD’s icebreaker, RSV Nuyina.

The mooring design must be completed and available for design review by the AAD on 30/4/20. The first completed mooring must be ready for inspection by the AAD on 14/9/20 and the testing completed and report provided to the AAD by 12/10/20. All 3 completed moorings must be prepared with fully charged batteries ready for deployment and delivered to the AAD by 11/12/20.
