Tender Description

Warrnambool City Council is seeking tenders from experienced contractors for concrete remediation works to repair defective concrete elements, and to apply protective coating systems to concrete elements and steel elements of the Hopkins River Bridge in Warrnambool.

The site of the works is located in Hopkins Point Road where the road crosses the Hopkins River near its mouth to the Southern Ocean in Warrnambool.

The bridge is located within the tidal estuary of the Hopkins River, which is a very corrosive environment because of its close location to the Southern Ocean.

The principal objective is to carry out the necessary repairs and conservation works to minimise the risk of corrosion due to the salt water environment, and extend the ultimate service life of the bridge.

The general scope of works to be performed under the Contract is as follows:

  • Site establishment and provision of safe work platforms;
  • Preparation & implementation of Quality Management, Environmental Management & Safety Management systems for the contract works;
  • Preparation & installation of a traffic management system during the course of works;
  • Concrete patch repairs to pre-stressed beams;
  • Concrete patch repairs to pier headstocks and pier piles;
  • Crack injection to pier piles;
  • Silane treatment to pre-stressed beams;
  • Silane treatment to pier headstocks;
  • Silane treatment to pier headstocks; and
  • Protective paint system for pedestrian walkway galvanised beams & plates/cleats.
