Tender Details
Tender Description
The MCG is one of Australia's greatest assets. As Australia's most attended sports and entertainment stadium, the MCG is a multipurpose venue accommodating international cricket, Australian football, concerts, dinners and other major functions on its natural turf arena and in the surrounding purpose built facilities.
Following the 2006 redevelopment of the northern side of the MCG and the refurbishment of the MCG’s iconic Great Southern Stand during 2011 and 2012, the MCG provides seating capacity for over 100,000 people and state-of-the-art dining rooms, corporate and function facilities, bars and related facilities. The addition in 2008 of the NSM adds another dynamic to Australia's sporting and cultural heritage in housing the Australian Gallery of Sport and Olympic Museum, Sport Australia Hall of Fame, Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, Thoroughbred Racing Museum, Australian Football exhibition (including Australian Football Hall of Fame) and temporary exhibition areas addressing the sporting issues and events of the day and much more. This is a vibrant, exciting and attractive mix of sporting heritage and entertainment aimed at Event Day patronage as well as catering for the MCG's traditional tourist groups seven days a week.
The NSM Refresh Project aims to structurally and conceptually renew the NSM and transform it into a leading global museum, placing it ahead of all challengers in the international sports museum market and ensuring that it is on a par with the very best heritage experiences within Australia.
Scheduled for completion in February 2020, the NSM Refresh project will create a museum that builds on its existing audience, provides a multitude of tangible education outcomes, genuinely engages visitors of all ages and all backgrounds, is innovative in its use of technology and interactivity and genuinely reflects its ‘national’ title.
