“Jemena currently rents co-location data centre space in two data centres within Melbourne that host critical production and non-production workloads. Our current data centre contract is due to expire at the end of 2019 and Jemena will be actively reviewing alternative hosting arrangements.

Our goals are cost savings, adding complimentary value added services, contract flexibility and improved partnership benefits. Jemena will continue to have an ongoing requirement for private cloud data centre services into the foreseeable future.

Jemena
* Jemena is an Australian based energy utility, with assets under management that include Gas distribution, Gas transmission, Electricity distribution and Water Recycling.
* As part of its operating footprint, it has offices across NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and Northern Territory.
* There are ~150 locations that are connected to the Jemena WAN and the Jemena Melbourne based data centres.
* Staff and customers all access applications and content hosted on infrastructure located within two data centres located in Melbourne. Additionally there is critical infrastructure hosted within these data centres, required to operate our assets.
* Jemena is a digital company, running modern digital systems including SAP as our ERP product, office 365 for office productivity and collaboration, GIS applications for geospatial and applications we developed to digitise our supply chain.
* As an organisation we need to build scalable, resilient and adaptable systems to support our digital workforce and the growth we expect driven by new technologies like IOT and the associated data tsunami that IOT introduces.

This Tender
* Jemena rents co-location data centre spaces which consist of two data centres located in Melbourne.
* Each data centre is connected by DWDM dark fibre, over which Jemena run IP and SAN data.
* Within each data centre Jemena own a number of racks that are used to host network, storage, server and backup infrastructure.
* As part of a consolidation effort, Jemena have selected a converged infrastructure solution to simplify it’s compute, network and storage.
* Jemena is highly virtualised with effectively all it’s Operating Server Instances (OSIs) hosted on VMware vSphere VMs.
* Complimenting the existing VMware compute virtualisation footprint, Jemena is in the process of implementing VMware NSX to virtualise it’s network services.
* Network infrastructure consists of IT Leaf/Spine architecture and Operational networks are migrated to similar architecture. The network infrastructure also consists of Firewall, Optimisation and Load Balancing appliances.
* Jemena are increasing their public cloud footprint, primarily utilising Azure.
* Rack capacity requirements are 28 at Primary and 25 at secondary.
* Power capacity requirements 95Kw at Primary and 87Kw Secondary
