Tender Description
Werribee Open Range Zoo (WORZ) recently developed and has commenced implementation of a five year operational master plan that aims to deliver the objectives of the Zoos Victoria corporate plan. A key objective within the master plan is to grow Commercial products by 20%.To achieve this we need to optimise the Slumber Safari Dining Hut such that it can be utilised for other commercial purposes in non-peak periods.
Slumber Safari brings together unique accommodation with a fully hosted experience including amazing close-up encounters, drinks and dips at sunset, a sumptuous dinner in the Dining Hut, awesome night-time activities including a night walk and toasting marshmallows around the evening campfire then a delicious supper. In the morning you can watch the animals on the African savannah awaken and enjoy a buffet breakfast served in the Dining Hut as you take in the magnificent view from the two (2) large windows.
Our safari camp offers an exceptional glamping (luxury camping) experience, with stunning tented lodges and creature comforts including en-suites, fans, heating / cooling and electric blankets. The design has an authentic and earthy touch that says 'safari' and, with just eight tents in total, you share this amazing experience with just a few others.
To achieve Commercial growth, the Dining Hut needs to be extended, and provide additional facilities to cater for conferences and other appropriate commercial opportunities.
In 2015, the Slumber Dining Hut received a refurbishment to extend the ceiling height. As a result, six (6) new SHS galvanised steel posts have been installed supporting the new insulated roofing panels in preparation of the renovation to expand the Slumber Dining Hut area.
Zoos Victoria seeks a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor for the renovation, fit out and new equipment install at the existing Slumber Safari Dining Hut.
This year's renovation will see the Slumber Dining Hut area expand to suit the steel posts and form a square structure of the building whilst still keeping the lookout wall that takes in the view of the African Savannah. The renovation includes a new DDA compliant unisex W.C adjacent to the existing building. The floor is to be re-concreted, the existing kitchen refreshed, and an additional 'health compliant' small catering kitchen installed, with new equipment.
During the duration of construction, the Slumber Safari Camp will operate between Saturday through to Monday mornings. As a result, to minimise the disruption to guests and visitors, contractor access hours on site are restricted to no earlier than 8am, concluding by 4.45pm Monday to Friday. This includes any deliveries and movement of plant. In addition, contractors must provide temporary fencing and approved themed screening throughout the construction site.
