Tender Description

Parks is seeking a suitably qualified company to work with the Park in developing and writing our next Conservation Plan.

The Nature Parks is a not-for-profit organisation created by the State Government of Victoria in 1996. Located in Western Port, 120 km south-east of Melbourne, it comprises over 1,805 ha of Crown Land set aside under the Crown Lands Reserve Act "for the conservation of areas of natural interest or beauty or of scientific, historic or archaeological interest".

The Nature Parks manages:
* Various coastal, woodland and wetland reserves including Rhyll Inlet, Oswin Roberts Reserve, Cape Woolamai and Pyramid Rock.
* Significant natural assets including the largest populations of Little Penguin, Short-tailed Shearwater and Australian Fur Seal in Australia.
* Manages habitat and populations for threatened species of plants and animals, with a focus on Eastern Barred Bandicoots , Hooded Plovers and Yellow Sea Lavender.
* Five paid natural attractions including the Penguin Parade, Churchill Island, the Koala Conservation Centre, The Nobbies and EcoBoat
Overseen by a Board of Management, the primary role is conservation of the Nature Parks' natural and cultural assets, in particular Phillip Island's colony of little penguins. Nature Parks undertakes an extensive environmental management program, informed by scientific research activities, and provides education and interpretation about Phillip Island's flora, fauna and history.

The Nature Parks receive no recurrent operational funding from the State Government and generate revenue from ecotourism to fund conservation programs and projects.
