Tender Description
A routine inspection of the structural elements of every road and pedestrian bridge and major road culvert in the Northern Beaches Local Government Area is required once every 12 months in order to ensure that the bridges are safe and all precautionary and remedial works are undertaken for any damage or wear that may result.
The purpose of the service is to assess the current condition of Council's bridges and major culverts in order to arrange an appropriate maintenance works schedule and identify any defects which present a risk to the ongoing performance of the bridge and safety of its users.
Inspection Requirements:
Inspection of the road and pedestrian bridges and culverts are to be undertaken by an experienced bridge inspector with Level 2 Qualifications or equivalent.
The inspections should consist of the following:
* Condition of the waterway;
* Condition of the headwall/wing walls on both sides;
* Condition of the deck seal where applicable;
* Condition of both approaches;
* Condition of all abutments;
* Condition of the signs relating to the bridge and/or culvert;
* Condition of the kerbs, scuppers and expansion joints;
* Condition of the deck;
* Condition of the railings, guard rails, fences, barriers, gates;
* Exact dimensions for each bridge/culvert including the following:
Length
Width
Height
Deck Area
* Any proposals to improve the condition of the bridge / culvert and/or safety of the user;
* Approximate price for the replacement of any component of the bridge / culvert requiring immediate attention;
* A five (5) year program, with approximate costs, to replace components of the bridge / culvert that may deteriorate to an unacceptable condition over this period; and,
* Details of any components that will require immediate maintenance and reconstruction works. Details to include approximate reconstruction costs and current defects/issues.
