Tender Description
A flood study completed by EDM Group and Water Technology in 2014 provided options to mitigate flooding within the Samaria Road area and along the East Main Drain. This involved the construction of a retention basin within the north-west corner of the Airport, upgrading the outlet to Sydney Road and upgrade drainage infrastructure in Samaria Road.
Benalla Rural City Council has been completing the work in stages. Stage 1 of the project was completed in 2016 and the Council has now received additional grants to allow construction of Stage 2.
The following works are required by the Council:
Airport Basin
Establish site and install required sediment control prior to staring
* Complete service locating within construction area
* Setout works
* Strip topsoil & stockpile close to site
* Excavate out material to design levels (approximately RL 168.50)
* Cart excess material to Enterprise Park (approximately 1.2km within airport land via an existing perimeter track)
* Existing open drains to be redirected into new basin with appropriate sediment control
* Spread stockpiled topsoil over disturbed area and ensure area left in tidy state
Airport Drains
Install any sediment control prior to starting
* Clean out and regrade open drains within excess material to be carted to Enterprise Park
* Neatly tidy up and stabilise drains and banks
Enterprise Park (Stockpile area)
Strip topsoil and stockpile to Benalla Rural City Council direction
* Place excavated material and compact in 300mm layers in compliance with geotechnical level 1 testing
