Provision of Secondary Consultation by a Psychiatrist for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) in Western Victoria.
Western Victoria PHN is seeking responses to this RFP for the provision of Secondary Psychiatrist Consultation Services for social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) clinicians delivering brief interventions within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across Western Victoria.
For those that present without a diagnosed mental illness, but continue to experience poor mental health and/or a risk of suicide, there are significant barriers to primary and specialist mental health services. Extra support was requested by ACCHOs to help SEWB clinicians clarify and better understand complex presentations, consider a range of diagnostic and treatment options, utilize a range strategies to respond to varying risks identified and to support ongoing learning.
The aim of the Secondary Consultation by a Psychiatrist for ACCHOs is to support and build the capacity of the SEWB workforce to deliver mental health assessment, treatment and recovery services as they relate to the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This will be achieved through the provision of useful, evidence based and culturally informed support to SEWB clinicians to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
The new services agreement will commence on September 1, 2017.
