NQPHN is seeking proposals from organisations within the Health and Community Services sector across Cairns who will develop and deliver an Antenatal Outreach Program for expectant mothers and their families in remote or high need areas. The program will provide clinical antenatal outreach services to expectant mothers, their partners and families who would not otherwise access antenatal classes.
The aim of the program will be to deliver clinical antenatal outreach classes and incorporate health promotion such as smoking cessation, nutrition, and support for expectant parents to attend postnatal health checks. Indigenous mothers, and mothers in remote locations will have access to antenatal classes in a convenient location.
Expectant mothers and their partners will be provided with culturally appropriate support and maternal and child health resources. The program will aim to significantly increase antenatal class attendance rates and success of the program will be determined by the number of women who will attend the outreach classes in comparison to current data.
