In relation to the overarching Botany Substation - 11kV Switchgear Replacement Project, this Request for Tender covers Stage 1 of the civil and construction works which will facilitate the installation of new Group 3 11kV switchgear and replacement of 11kV switchgear Group 2. The supply and installation of the majority of primary and secondary electrical equipment will be completed by Ausgrid, and is excluded from this scope.

Works for this Request for Tender will consist of 2 Separable Portions as outlined below.
Separable Portion 1:
* Undertake early geotechnical testing to determine thermal resistivity which in turn will determine whether (a) existing in-ground conduits leading to transformer no. 4 cable pit can be used or (b) additional conduits are to be installed (the additional conduits and associated works are in Separable Portion 2.11kV Switch room (Group 3 switchgear): Works include: demolition of concrete slab, widening and extension of the existing cable chase to cater for the new Siemens NX Plus C switchgear, construction of structural steel framing to support the switchgear, new checker plates covers, penetrations and supports for cable trays, temporary works including dust mitigation and mechanical protection for all electrical equipment.
* Demolish and remove the decommissioned distribution enclosure and install pit covers.
* Removal existing bunding.
* Installation of a new telephone isolation zone.
* Cable tray support structure.
* Grout injection to stabilise area under transformer no. 4 conservator and extension to cable pit at the rear of this transformer.
* Miscellaneous other works including installing eye wash, telephone isolation point, new door with landing, security system etc.

Separable Portion 2:
These works consist of constructing a cable trench to connect the switch room to the rear of cable pit 4 and will only be triggered if the thermal resistivity tests do not meet the required threshold.

An overview of the scope is as follows:
* Excavate section of slab for new cable trench, install 9 x 150 mm diameter conduits, backfill with thermally stabilised backfill. Reinstate slab upon completion;
* Mechanical protection of 33kV feeders and control and protection cables in cable trench including dust mitigation, vibration for electrical equipment.

Ausgrid understands that due to timing, similarity of works, proximity and inter relation between this tender AG8590 and Tender AG8393 named 'Matraville Zone Substation building and civil works for 11 kV switchgear replacement', there can be some efficiencies and saving opportunities if same contractor is awarded both sites.

Therefore Ausgrid would like to invite all tenderers to put an alternative offer if awarded both tenders. This offer is not obligatory.
