Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable service provider to assess the potential of smart glass and semi-transparent photovoltaic glass (STPVG) technologies to reduce energy costs without compromise to photosynthesis and crop productivity for vegetables produced in greenhouses under Australian conditions.
The objectives of the services are to help Hort Innovation to understand the:
* status of smart glass and STPVG technologies and their application to energy efficiency and optimal crop productivity under protected cropping (greenhouses)
* economic benefits and costs of using smart glass and STPVG technologies in protected cropping in Australia, and what can be done to increase their economic viability and benefits
* viability of various smart glass and STPVG technologies for Australian commercial vegetable growers using protected cropping
* best options for growers considering smart glass and/or STPVG in their protected cropping system.
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
