Construction Services for Glen Street Cultural Hub Stage 2 - The New Library

⁠⁠⁠Council requires the services of a building contractor with a proven performance record to deliver a new state-of-the-art library as part of the Glen Street Cultural Hub Stage 2 project. The Builder must be experienced in the delivery of projects of this size, standard of construction and complexity.

The Works are to be delivered as a Lump Sum Firm Price contract under AS4000 (Superintendent Administered), with amendments. The new library, adjacent to the front of the Glen Street Theatre, is to be built within the Glen Street Theatre site located at 106 Blackbutts Road, Frenchs Forest, (corner of Glen Street and Blackbutts Road/Lockwood Avenue).

The project is Stage 2 of the Glen Street Cultural Hub Master Plan and Council considers this to be a high profile site. In February 2014 Council engaged the services of a Design Team headed by Architects Brewster Hjorth Pty Ltd (BHA). The design development phase is complete and Council now seeks the services of a suitably qualified builder to construct a best in class facility.

A Development Application was lodged with Warringah Council in July 2015 and is expected to be determined by the Warringah Development Assessment Panel (WDAP) in October 2015. Pending approval, the development will deliver a new state-of-the-art Library, offering modern and innovative spaces including library collection, community lounge, study centre, children's collection, outdoor reading area, project space, young adults collection, staff workroom and lift access. The original brief given to the design team included a construction budget of $3.8M, including contingencies.
