ASC is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified and capable organisations for the procurement and installation of a Plasma Profile Cutter to be supplied to the ASC North facility.
This EOI aims to identify suppliers who can meet ASC’s high standards for safety, quality, and sustainability. Respondents are encouraged to outline their capabilities, experience, and innovative approaches that align with ASC’s objectives.
SCOPE OF WORK
ASC is seeking Expressions of Interests (EOI) for the provision of the below equipment to be supplied to the ASC North facility:
1. Required Envelope & Table
• Effective cutting area: Tenderer shall provide profile cutter suitable to minimum width and length of the cutting areas is 3.6 m (W) and 9 m (L) respectively.
• Material thickness: 100mm thick material (Stainless steel, Carbon steel, Aluminium) to be cut.
• Cutting/drilling table: Zoned downdraft design with CNC-controlled pneumatic zone doors, modular sections, and internal removable dross bins. Supplier to confirm final dimensions and extraction airflow/static pressure required.
2. Machine Construction & Motion
• Bridge/Gantry: Extra heavy-duty, rigid construction.
• Guides: Cross-axis linear guides with protection against sparks and drilling debris.
• Rails: Heavy-duty longitudinal rails with machined running surfaces; include automatic rail cleaning/polishing system.
• Accuracy & repeatability: Contractor to specify accuracy and repeatability in tender proposal.
• Collision protection: Provide crash protection sensors and recovery routines.
• The system shall be designed to allow safe and efficient loading and unloading of materials using an overhead crane and/or other approved material handling equipment.
3. CNC Control & Software
• CNC: Industrial PC-based controller with ≥ 24″ touch display, Windows 10/industrial OS, DXF/DWG import, interactive graphics, on-board nesting (row/column), cut-loss recovery, program relocation, kerf compensation, diagnostics, networking, USB, and remote diagnostics.
• Programming/Nesting: Provide nesting/CAM, licensed for the machine
4. Plasma Cutting System
• Power source: Minimum 400a output current system with mixed-gas console (e.g., Optimix/CorePlus) for high-definition cutting across steels, stainless and aluminium. State offered console variant and any differences.
• True Bevel enablement: System shall support True Bevel calibration/workflows when paired with the nesting/CAM.
5. Bevel Cutting Head (Plasma)
• Zero-offset concept: Head shall achieve full bevel angle range without X/Y/Z compensation by the bridge. If an alternative design is proposed, supplier must document compensation method and any cycle time impacts.
• Kinematics: ≥ 90° side-side and ≥ 90° forward-back tilt, 360° continuous rotation, with absolute encoders and servo drives on tilt/rotation/vertical axes.
• Capability: Bevel holes and edges including internal/blind corner bevels; include crash bar and torch axial crash sensing with IHS/ohmic backup.
6. Oxy-Fuel Cutting
• Quantity: 1× oxy torch station, vertical, with auto-ignition, servo lifter, auto plate sensing, height control, and proportional preheat & cutting oxygen control
• Fuel: LPG. Capacity: Straight-cut carbon steel up to 300 mm (single torch).
7. Drilling & Tooling
• Spindle: servo spindle, BT40 taper, with servo-controlled feed and plate clamp axes.
• ATC: Automatic tool changer, CNC-controlled and guarded. Tool change shall be programmable within the part program.
• Capability: Drill up to Ø40 mm, tap up to M24 (with suitable tooling); self-clamping; encoder-validated depth control; thru-tool MQL lubrication and air blast. Include interactive drilling interface/tool library in the CNC.
8. Fume Extraction and Dust collector
• Specify extraction airflow (m³/h), static pressure (Pa) and connection size/location to interface with dust collector. Include interlocks as required.
• Tenderer shall supply and install dust collector, suitable to profile cutter.
9. Cleaning process for metal waste and swarf
• Confirm access and cleaning process for waste removal.
10. Electrical & Utilities
• Machine power: 415 V, 3-phase
• Plasma power: 415 V, 3-phase
• Supplier to detail compressed air quality/flow, process/shield gases, and any coolant utilities.
11. Part Identification/Marking System
• Character marking capability up to approximately 65 mm height.
• System must mark part numbers, IDs, text, and orientation marks without damaging plate surface.
• System shall include cleaning and/or purging features required for reliable operation.
• Supplier shall provide hardware, controller, cabling, integration, installation, testing, and training.
12. Safety & Compliance
• Provide AS/NZS 4024 compliant safety circuits (E-Stops, lanyards) and guarding for all cutting process.
• Provide risk assessment inputs and documentation to support end-user site risk assessment
• All equipment shall comply with all relevant standards, codes and WHSE legislations, including but not limited to, o AS4024 – Safety of Machinery - AS3000 – Electrical Wiring
- Working at Heights (If required)
- Confined Spaces (If required) o AS 2671 - Hydraulic fluid power - General requirements for systems
- AS 2788 - Pneumatic fluid power - General requirements for systems.
13. Equipment Support
• Local Maintenance support
• Onsite basic maintenance training
• Preventative maintenance schedules and requirements
• Programming and operator training
• Site Acceptance Testing
• Factory Acceptance Test
• Commissioning
• Maintenance to be provided during warranty period.
• List of critical spares with associated costs and availability per item.
• Documentation to support design and build including cad models, foundation details etc. are to be provided.
• Services demand estimates, equipment weights and support details, any overhead crane requirements, pneumatic requirements are to be provided.
• Detailed risk assessment of the equipment to be conducted with ASC and external safety experts.
• List of any hazardous substances used in the manufacture or contained within the equipment.
14. Environmental Considerations
• The tenderer is to provide what environmental initiatives the machine has to reduce consumption and waste. This includes but not limited to,
- Energy consumption
- Compressed air consumption
