⁠⁠⁠This Request for Proposal (RFP) is an invitation to suitably qualified suppliers to submit a Proposal for the Gated Parking Proof of Concept (PoC) for public transport park and ride sites opportunity.

Background information / Compatibility requirements

This Proof of Concept (PoC) has been initiated to evaluate proposed technical solutions and the associated costs for deploying a gated parking system at Park and Ride facilities. These facilities currently operate with open access and serve both public transport users and general parking customers. However, this unrestricted model has led to a recurring issue; public transport users often struggle to find available parking spaces, especially at high-demand locations such as those located near hospitals and shopping centres.

To address this, the proposed solution will explore gated access that enables free parking for users who have recently tapped a valid go card or credit card on a public transport trip. This approach ensures that genuine transit users are supported in their journey while maintaining access for non-public transport customers through the possibility of introducing a nominal parking fee. The goal is to improve parking availability for commuters, encourage public transport usage, and better manage overall demand at key Park and Ride locations.
