Horticulture Innovation Australia (Hort Innovation) is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $17 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $170 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Validation of Physical Weed Technologies in Australia (Onion and Vegetable) (MT25014).
The overall objectives of the services are to:
• Establish a structured validation gateway that independently benchmarks emerging physical weed control technologies and generates decision-ready evidence to inform future adoption-stage investments
• Identify and evaluate a defined portfolio of global and domestic emerging physical weed control technologies — including mechanical, thermal, electrical/laser, pressure-based and hybrid systems — through structured comparative validation trials under Australian production conditions
• Independently assess the technical performance, operational suitability and economic viability of candidate technologies, enabling objective comparison against existing practices and supporting informed industry decision-making
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
