Tender Description
St Kilda Road is one of the City of Melbourne’s primary boulevards and a key transport corridor, supporting high volumes of vehicular traffic, tram services, pedestrians, and cyclists, while also accommodating significant landscaped medians and verge planting. The existing irrigation infrastructure within the project area is aging and no longer operating efficiently, resulting in water losses, reduced system reliability, and impacts to landscape health.
This project forms part of Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing public realm assets and will deliver the renewal of irrigation infrastructure to improve water efficiency, system performance, and long-term sustainability of the St Kilda Road landscape corridor.
Project Description
Overall, the scope of works includes, but is not limited to:
- Site preliminaries and establishment
- Renewal and replacement of existing irrigation pipework, valves, and fittings
- Installation of new irrigation infrastructure, including control valves and associated components
- Connection to existing water supply and control systems
- Trenching and underground works within landscaped areas and verges
- Testing, commissioning, and optimisation of the irrigation system
- Landscaping and surface reinstatement, including turf and soil restoration
- Landscaping reinstatement and surface restoration works
- Associated traffic management and coordination works within an active arterial road environment
