Overview
The Department of Education and Training is committed to skilling Territorians through engagement with Vocational Education and Training (VET), a nationally recognised qualification, skillset or units of competency in an aim to increase employment and economic outcomes.
The Skilling Pathways Round is designed for Northern Territory Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), peak bodies and industry associations to apply for funding to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs that focus on skilling pathways, particularly for high demand roles and industries such as tourism, defence agribusiness, gas and mining.Programs must consist of one or more of the following:
- Supporting equity groups: helping to remove barriers by accessing skilled training for disadvantage groups.
- Creating skilling pathways: initiatives that give Territorians practical skills to help them obtain a job, apprenticeship or traineeship
- Building skills for industries and occupations that are in high demand: Initiatives that assist Territorians to upskill or reskilling existing workers in occupations or industries in high demand or affected by change
The department encourages grant applications from:
- new and existing RTOs that are headquartered in the NT
- those that can demonstrate collaboration between RTOs, peak bodies and associations.
Who can apply
Funding is available to organisations only.
To be eligible for funding an organisation must
- have a head office physically located in the NT
Types of organisations that are eligible for funding include:
- RTOs
- Peak bodies and associations
- Joint applications can be accepted, provided a lead applicant is identified to drive the program
What can't be funded
The Skills NT grant funds cannot be used for:
- activity that can be funded by Australian Government or other NT Government grant programs
- capital expenditure
- recurrent activities
- core business
- supplementing funding in an existing project
- activity that provides, or may be perceived to provide, commercial advantage
- an established fee for service market
- development of NT Government or Australian Government employees
