Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Overview

The Department of People, Sport and Culture (NT) is offering the Multicultural Grants Program (MGP) Celebrate, which provides one-off funding to assist with the organising, promoting, and running of cultural events, activities, and festivals that promote social inclusion, cohesion, and cultural and linguistic diversity.

Objectives

Projects will be assessed on how well they meet the following criteria:

  • Assist the community's knowledge and appreciation of different cultures
  • Foster opportunities for multicultural communities to maintain, develop and express their cultural and linguistic diversity
  • Be accessible and able to be attended by the broader Northern Territory community

Funding

  • Funding of up to $20,000 is available per application under this scheme, noting that this upper limit amount would be for large events
  • Round 2 opens from 1 to 30 September each year
  • This round generally covers events and activities starting from January
  • The MGP Guidelines provide information to assist applicants in applying for and acquitting grants under this program. Applicants are asked to read the Guidelines carefully prior to applying

Eligibility

Funding is available to not for profit organisations only. To be eligible for funding, an organisation must:

  • Be operating as a not for profit organisation
  • Be physically located and actively operating in the NT
  • Have met acquittal requirements for all previous Northern Territory Government grants and complied with all other accountability requirements

Types of organisations that are eligible for funding include:

  • Not-for-profit and/or charitable incorporated multicultural community organisations
  • Not-for-profit and/or charitable incorporated multicultural community organisations that are in partnership with other organisations to deliver a project
  • Not-for-profit unincorporated multicultural community organisations that have an auspice organisation which has agreed to administer the grant
  • Other incorporated, not-for-profit and/or charitable organisations where a proposed project meets the grant aim and criteria

Types of organisations that are not eligible for funding include:

  • Individuals
  • Government
  • Local Government Councils
  • Private for-profit groups
