Artificial Bat Habitat Environmental Modelling

Scope of work

Rio Tinto is developing artificial habitats for the Pilbara Leaf‑Nosed Bat and requires a simulation model to confirm that proposed designs can achieve the stable warm and humid microclimate the species needs. The project seeks vendors capable of modelling internal temperature and humidity over seasonal conditions and analysing how climate variability, material properties, and habitat geometry influence performance. The model must integrate Pilbara climate data, represent multiple habitat designs, and provide clear reporting on assumptions, limitations, and outputs. Vendors will work collaboratively with the project team, with the final report due in June 2026.

As this is an Expression of Interest (EOI) only, the specifics of the package of work relating to breadth of scope, location and timing may be subject to change. If successful, the Supplier/s will be notified of any changes prior to award.
