Tender Description

Overview

The Cairns Marine Precinct (CMP) is a leading Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) destination in Northern Australia that is home to a large and diverse civil and commercial maritime sector. The precinct includes a worldclass tourism reef fleet, commercial fishing and shipping vessels, a cruising yacht squadron, as well as visiting superyachts and cruise liners. The CMP plays an integral role in the broader operations and activities undertaken at the Port of Cairns, one of Australia's most northern seaports which is regarded as infrastructure of state and national importance.

The CMP is one of the few ports in Australia that can offer Department of Defence (DoD) potential expansion opportunities in berth and land facilities. As the strategic location for the Regional Maintenance Centre North East (RMC-NE) for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), and the gateway to the Pacific region, the CMP is considered a national Defence asset, and the premier maintenance and sustainment destination for the region.

This presents some huge opportunities to provide extended support to the North Queensland region through leveraging the capability of the CMP.

The CMP-CUF Program aims to develop a maritime Common User Facility (CUF) to address infrastructure constraints and optimise waterfront land use, catering to the growing demand for maritime MRO services in Australia and internationally. This expansion is expected to enhance the capabilities of the Cairns Marine Precinct, support economic growth in Far North Queensland (FNQ), and attract investment and job opportunities in the MRO and marine tourism industries.
