Installation of LED Lighting at Bendigo Harness Racing Club

The original track lighting system was installed in the 1970's using Siemens 2kW metal halide floodlights. The control gear used was 415V, 2kW reactor gear mounted in control gear cabinets (enclosures) mounted on the lighting masts.

The lighting in the front straight was upgraded in 2005 when the Siemens floodlights were replaced by 2kW Siteco floodlights with the control gear mounted in control gear cubicles mounted adjacent to the masts.

The lighting installation employs 190 floodlights distributed over 47 No 10m masts and 6 No 20m masts; a gantry over the Judges Box also carries some floodlights.

Work is NOT required in the following areas of the track lighting system:

• Grid power supply and diesel generator supply
• Site Main Switchboard and Harness Lighting DB
• Lighting control system

Work is required in the following areas:

• Removal of all existing masts and floodlights
• Replacement of all masts and headframes
• Construction of all new mast footings
• Installation of LED floodlights on new headframes
• Installation of LED drivers in new control gear cubicles
• Underground wiring to all masts
• Final wiring to all LED floodlights
• Aiming and commissioning of the lighting system

The project timeline is for the complete lighting system to be installed and commissioned within a 10-weeks period starting in mid-February 2026. Tenderers will need to ensure they adequately resource the works throughout this period to ensure they can meet the project timeline requirements.
