Central Coast Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) to solicit market feedback and register interest from qualified and capable Respondents for the development and delivery of a new Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) processing facility.
Background information / Compatibility requirements
Council is seeking expressions of interest and soliciting input from Respondents for the development and delivery of a large-scale organics processing facility under a Project Agreement. The Project will process Council’s existing garden organics and future household FOGO from within Council’s Local Government Area (LGA), with scope for Respondents to engage neighbouring councils, commercial entities or other regions as additional supply partners.
Diverting organic material from landfill and expanding local processing capacity are priorities under the Central Coast Council Resource Management Strategy 2020-2030. These priorities are aligned with the NSW Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy 2041 and the FOGO Mandate and support the transition to a circular economy through improved material recovery.
By increasing the diversion of organics from landfill, Council also aims to reduce methane and other GHG emissions while extending the operational life of existing landfill sites. Delivery of an organics processing facility represents a strategic investment in the LGA’s sustainable waste management infrastructure, and is expected to deliver environmental, economic and social benefits.
