The Australian Government is inviting an organisation through a one-off ad hoc selection process to apply to deliver services under Program 2.5 – Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship over one year from 2025–26.
The grant will support multicultural communities as outlined in Labor’s costed plan to Build Australia’s Future. This will be a one-off ad hoc grant to a pre-selected organisation to purchase existing infrastructure to facilitate the establishment of the Illawarra Regional Multicultural Centre, which will provide direct support to multicultural community organisations.
The objectives of the program are to:
- support multicultural organisations to deliver new construction or extend/upgrade existing infrastructure to provide access to purpose-built facilities
- improve amenity and accessibility through investment in community infrastructure.
The intended outcomes of the program activity are:
- maintain and enhance access to multicultural infrastructure and amenity
- encourage and facilitate multicultural communities to connect and commune in a designated safe physical environment
- improve equity outcomes and social inclusion.
The eligible applicant holds relevant project knowledge, and are considered to possess:
- appropriate cultural awareness to deliver facilities that will meet the needs of multicultural communities
- an ability to work with multicultural communities to increase the uptake of Australian values, boost civic participation and enable connection through the use of community spaces
- a willingness to strengthen inclusion and social cohesion.
This grant will be administered by the Community Grants Hub on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.
The grant is to be undertaken in accordance with the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles 2024 (CGRPs).
