Sealed Road Condition Survey

Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking suitably experienced Contractors to fulfil Contract Contract 25-26-30 Sealed Road Condition Survey

The road condition survey for sealed roads is intended to assess the overall performance and condition of the pavement and seal asset components of the sealed road network.

Council manages 770 km of sealed roads.

The inspections covered in the Sealed Road Condition Survey manual which forms the Specification for this Tender are not hazard or safety inspections (details of hazard inspection procedures and associated routine maintenance intervention levels adopted by the Strathbogie Shire are contained within Council’s Road Management Plan), however, defects that require prompt attention to ensure road user safety should be logged while performing condition surveys.

The output from condition assessments provide corporate information used for:

• The development of capital renewal and planned maintenance programs; and

• Estimating remaining useful lives of assets and as an input to renewal forecasting processes.

• The development of asset degradation curves, In line with previous years condition assessment results

• Assist in the revaluation of sealed pavements in line with Condition based /consumption-based depreciation (Refer to AASB113 AND AASB116)

Additionally, where a consistent and repeatable data collection methodology is adopted over a number of surveys, the outputs of the condition surveys for sealed roads can be used to conduct time series analyses of asset performance, allowing calibration of renewal forecasting tools to better reflect actual local conditions.
