Tender Description
The Creative Fellowships grant category support mid-career and established Northern Territory artists to develop a body of work which may include research or knowledge exchange, to benefit their own professional practice and the development of arts and culture in the NT.
Three (3) Fellowships are offered:- One Fellowship for an artist based in the Top End of the Northern Territory.
- One Fellowship for an artist based in Central Australia or the Barkly region.
- One dedicated Aboriginal Artist Fellowship (any region).
- Up to $50,000 per applicant, per financial year, available to individuals
- Applicants are encouraged to name their Fellowship after an NT creative who has inspired their career (with permission)
- Applicants are expected to develop a body of work and present it in a public forum
- Applicants may consider a residency at an NT Government cultural institution (such as Libraries and Archives NT, Araluen Arts Centre, or MAGNT) and are encouraged to engage with NT Government collections
- Applications open at 8am on 20 October 2025
- Applications close at 2pm on 27 November 2025
- Assessed by a panel of peers
- Notification from 19 February 2026
- Activity must start from 1 March 2026
- Fellowships may run for up to 1 year
- Case study report due 3 months after completion of the approved activity
- Read the Arts Grants Program Guidelines to understand the objectives and requirements
- Speak with an Arts Development Officer to confirm your eligibility and that your activity suits the grant category
- Make sure you have no outstanding acquittals or compliance issues with the NT Government
- Clearly define your activity, including what it is, who is involved, and how and when it will be delivered
- Prepare a realistic, balanced budget that shows value for money and includes quotes for any expenses over $1,000
- Gather your support material, including CVs or bios, examples of work, and confirmation of involvement from collaborators
- Obtain any required permissions, including Working with Children clearances and Aboriginal cultural permissions if relevant
- If using an Administering Body, ensure they endorse your application before you submit it
- Submit your application by the deadline, as late applications won’t be accepted
