Request for Information: PostgreSQL Support

The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and its partner agencies are seeking market information regarding professional PostgreSQL support services. This Request for Information (RFI) is part of a two-stage procurement approach to gather market insights and better define DPI’s requirements.

This RFI is for information gathering only and is not a competitive evaluation or shortlisting process. There will be no scoring or ranking of responses at this stage. A subsequent Request for Quote (RFQ) will be issued shortly after to invite formal proposals based on insights from this RFI.

The objective of this RFI is to understand the current supply market, available support models, pricing structures, and contracting preferences, to inform the final RFQ scope and evaluation criteria.

The key objectives of this RFI are to:

• Identify suppliers with the technical capability and experience to support PostgreSQL in production environments.

• Understand the market’s capacity to provide 24x7 support and real-time incident response.

• Determine the available support for secondary PostgreSQL components such as PostGIS, PgAudit, PgBackRest, and replication/high-availability solutions.

• Gather insights into innovative service delivery approaches that improve resilience and reduce downtime.

• Inform the development of a well-targeted RFQ including appropriate scope, evaluation criteria, and contractual arrangements.
