Tender Description

This project is funded by Better Boating Victoria (BBV) within Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA). The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) are delivering the project on behalf of BBV.

This project aims to upgrade the Tooradin boat ramp facility to improve access at low tide; provide more berthing opportunities; and improve vehicle access to and from the facility.

The application is for the upgrade of the Tooradin boating facility and associated works, including:

• Removal of 0.007 ha of Mangrove Shrubland EVC, including removal of roots, emergent shoots and seedlings of Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988 (FFG Act) listed Grey Mangrove (Avicennia marina subsp. australasica).

• Removal of existing pontoons and piles.

• Construction of an upgraded and extended concrete boat ramp, resurfacing and widening the existing ramp to accommodate three minimum 4m wide lanes and changing the ramp geometry and slope to raise the crest height, extend the ramp length and lower the ramp toe to -2.4m AHD.

• Construction of new pontoon abutments and concrete pontoon mattresses (bases).

• Construction of a rock scour protection apron.

• Installation of replacement pontoons and new piles, with the southern pontoon system realigned to the outside of its existing alignment and extended in length out to the main tidal channel.

• Regraded roadway pavement extension at the top of the boat ramp (e.g. approach lanes).

• Maintenance dredging to -2.4m AHD to accommodate the ramp and pontoon extensions.

• Removal of three (3) planted trees within the existing carpark area.

• Widening the carpark entrance to two lanes (one lane each-way).

• Reconfiguration of car-trailer unit (CTU) spaces within the existing paved carpark.

• Carriageway widening and extension of the sealed carpark to create 22 new CTU spaces within the existing overflow area and 7-new car-only spaces, with wheel stops at all new spaces.
