Scenic Rim Regional Council is seeking submissions from suitable Tenderers to deliver cultural land management training and activities within Western Escarpment Reserve (Locality: Boyland in the Scenic Rim LGA). This project is funded by the State Government's SEQ Koala threat management initiatives program.
A team of experienced fire practitioners will apply traditional fire practices and knowledge via cultural land management activities to reduce fuel loads, restore native vegetation and promote biodiversity.
By training a local First Nations fire team in cultural land management, including fire on ground, training in weed management and monitoring of works, the project will assist to restore First Nations land management to country and support the local community.
Tenderers must demonstrate expertise in the application of cultural land management methods, including fire practices, and involvement and training of a local First Nations group. Tenderers will be required to deliver on-ground works using conservation and cultural land management practices in Western Escarpment Reserve, preserving and enhancing the high ecological values of this natural area and reducing threats to Endangered koalas by reducing fuel load.
The services required to be provided by the Tenderer includes, but is not limited to, ecological restoration using the application of cultural fire, ecological restoration via weed control of invasive plant species, workshops to train traditional owners, monitoring and reporting.
