The Congregation Adass Israel is invited to apply via a one-off ad hoc process for the Security Upgrades for the Congregation Adass Israel grant.
On 6 December 2024, an anti-Semitic arson attack took place at the Adass Israel Synagogue in Ripponlea, Victoria, causing significant damage. The damage to the existing Synagogue can be repaired, however, it demonstrated the need for significant security upgrades to the Synagogue.
The Security Upgrades for the Congregation Adass Israel grant opportunity is being provided under Program 2.5 - Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship Program within Outcome 2 of the Department of Home Affairs Portfolio Budget Statement.
- Outcome 2: Support a united and prosperous Australia through effective coordination and delivery of immigration and citizenship policy and programs underpinned by robust integrity and assurance.
- Program 2.5: Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship: To support a prosperous and inclusive society through the promotion, delivery and effective management of the Australian multicultural and citizenship programs.
The objectives of the grant activity are to:
- encourage multicultural communities to have access to shared (common) facilities creating focused places to gather and foster integration
- enable communities to support others, including in times of crisis.
The intended outcome of the grant is to:
- preserve and/or protect infrastructure, contents and people utilising the facility.
This grant will be administered by the Community Grants Hub on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.
The grant is to be undertaken in accordance with the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles 2024 (CGRPs).
