Powerhouse seeks to appoint a suitably qualified industry advisor to develop and deliver the Powerhouse Culinary Archive.

Project goals

The Powerhouse Culinary Archive is the first nationwide culinary archive to collect the histories of the Australian food industry including chefs, producers, writers and restaurant. To coincide with the launch of Powerhouse Parramatta, Powerhouse Publishing will release a landmark publication – The Australian Culinary Archive (working title).

To assist with the development of the Culinary Archive and its accompanying publication and associated programs, Powerhouse will appoint a suitably qualified industry advisor to work closely with Powerhouse staff, industry collaborators, and community stakeholders to continue to develop the archive and deliver the publication and associated programs, set to launch at Powerhouse Parramatta’s opening in late 2026.

The advisor will draw on their industry knowledge, experience and networks to help identify key themes, contributors, and archival materials that will enrich the archive, the publication and support the broader curatorial and research objectives of the Powerhouse Culinary Archive.

Scope

In collaboration with Powerhouse staff, industry and community, the successful supplier will undertake a range of responsibilities to support the development of the Powerhouse Culinary Archive and its associated publication and programs, including:

-Act as the lead Powerhouse representative to continue to develop the Culinary Archive

-Undertake research, content development, and contribute to the editorial delivery

-Source items and objects to form part of the Archive

-Conduct interviews to capture oral histories and first-hand accounts relevant to the archive’s themes

-Identify and recommend opportunities for future collaboration and partnerships
