Design and Construction of the Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk Walking Track - Expression of Interest

⁠⁠⁠Expressions of Interest are invited from suitably qualified contractors wishing to be preregistered to tender for the proposed D&C contract for the Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk Walking Track.

Project goals

Project Objectives Include:

• Delivering a walking track that meets Grade 4 classification under AS 2156.1:2001.
• Constructing the track using hand tools and site-won natural materials.
• Minimising environmental impact through low-impact construction practices.
• Facilitating on-site micro-alignment in consultation with NPWS during construction.
• Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with NPWS environmental and construction standards.
• Supporting track durability and long-term maintainability in remote, rugged environments.

Scope

The scope of work under the proposed contract includes the construction of sections of a new walking track within Dorrigo and Bindarri National Parks, as part of the Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk (DEGW) project. The walk is a planned 46-kilometre, four-day, three-night walking track, to be completed between mid-2025 and early 2027.

The works include natural surface track building, installation of stone steps, retaining walls, drainage structures, and track features in remote settings with limited access, often requiring camp-based operations and helicopter-supported logistics.
